Our InstructorStephanie Hamilton, F.D.T.A; ADCRG, is a qualified Irish Dance teacher affiliatedto the Festival Dance Teachers Association (F.D.T.A.) and Cumann Rince DeaMheasa (TCRG; ADCRG). Stephanie is highly passionate about teaching IrishDancing both traditional and modern. The Erinmorne School of Irish Dancing waslaunched in 2007. The school aim is to nurture andmaintain ties with the past, whilst improving on what our ancestors and pastteachers have in turn taught us. The school does this by teaching traditional andoriginal choreographed dances, combining old and new footwork ensuring webelong to the future as much as the past. Irish Dancing helps boost the dancers'confidence, self esteem and encourages the quick absorption of information withthe ability to learn and memorise steps. The benefits of Irish Dance aremany…good exercise, self-discipline, a good sense of teamwork and pride in yourachievements.The Erinmorne School of Irish Dancing teaches competition as well asperformance skills. Dancers are taught reels, light double jigs, single jigs, slip jigs(fast and slow) all carried out in soft shoes or ghillies. Dances carried out inheavy, or treble shoes are the Hornpipe, Treble Jig and Treble Reel, TraditionalSet Dances and choreographed Set Dances (slower). Traditional standard ceiliteams are also taught as well as original choreographed figure teams. Free style`sean nos' step dancing and brush dancing are also taught for displays andperformances. Couples and Three Hand Dances are danced in Festivalcompetition. The school offers the opportunity to learn Irish Dancing in a fun and friendlyenvironment. There is the possibility of becoming involved in public displays. Allof the Erinmorne dancers will help one another along, and I encourage any newstudents to join an any time of the year. Dancers build lasting friendships, not onlywith fellow dancers in the classes, but through performing in displays andcompeting in competitions, meeting children of their own age from all parts ofNorthern Ireland and abroad.
